On August 7th, the 24-year-old BTR Group officially started production of the first phase of its annual 160,000-ton anode material project in Indonesia (with an annual production capacity of 80,000 tons).
The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Joko Widodo, as well as officials from the Indonesian Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Ministry for Economic Affairs, Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Investment, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and the Chairman of BTR, Mr. He Xueqin, and the Executive Deputy Chairman and General Manager, Mr. Huang Youyuan, attended the production launch ceremony.
Indonesian BTR is BTR's first overseas construction project and is the first base in the Chinese anode industry to officially start production and operation overseas. The completion and production of the Indonesian BTR project have filled the gap in the field of lithium-ion battery anode materials in Indonesia and the entire ASEAN region, effectively promoting the improvement of Indonesia's new energy lithium-ion battery industry in the entire industrial chain. After the start of production, the Indonesian BTR factory will begin to supply to global customers, making a positive contribution to building a green, harmonious, and sustainable world.
BTR has maintained the world's first market share in anode materials for fourteen consecutive years. As a core manufacturer and supplier for global mainstream lithium/-ion battery manufacturers such as Panasonic, Samsung SDI, LGES, SK On, CATL, and BYD, its main products include natural graphite, artificial graphite, silicon-based anode materials, and nickel-rich NMC (nickel-manganese-cobalt) cathode materials. The products of Indonesian BTR will mainly provide a variety of battery material solutions for electric vehicles, consumer batteries, and energy storage batteries.
Industry data show that in 2023, China's new energy vehicle export volume reached 1.203 million units, a year-on-year increase of 77.6%, setting a historical record. The global energy storage cell shipment volume was 210GWh, a year-on-year increase of 70%. The global new energy vehicle and energy storage markets still have a huge growth space, and the demand for localized production by companies in various countries is also increasing.
In addition to the Indonesian project, in April of this year, BTR's 50,000 ton-per-annum of lithium-ion battery cathode material project officially started construction in Mediterranean area. After the completion of the project, it will have an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons of lithium-ion battery cathode materials to meet the demand for high-performance battery materials in Europe and around the world.
