On August 19th, Lionteam New Energy Technology (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd. signed an investment framework agreement with the Shunli Industry Fund of Linwu County, Chenzhou City, Hunan Province.
According to the agreement, Lionteam New Energy Technology (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd. will invest in the construction of a solid-state battery electrolyte material production project in the High-Tech Zone of Linwu, with a total investment of 800 million yuan, to be implemented in three phases. The Shunli Industry Fund of Linwu County intends to make an equity investment in this project, with the first phase of financing expected to be around 60 million yuan.
Lionteam New Energy Technology was established in 2021, with its main products being high-performance lithium-ion battery composite separators and related active functional materials and binder materials, providing high-quality supporting materials for all-solid-state batteries, solid-liquid hybrid batteries, and liquid electrolyte batteries. The company has a technical team from the Institute of Physical Science and Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as an advisory team composed of well-known industry experts.
Among them, the company's self-produced solid-state electrolytes are mainly inorganic oxide ion conductor materials, including products such as LATP, LLTO, LLZO, LAGP, etc.
In addition, the company has built the first domestic pilot production line for MOF materials at the beginning of 2024, achieving the technical development of MOF materials from laboratory-scale synthesis to mass production, with an annual production capacity of 10 tons for the MOF material pilot line.
At present, the company has 4 composite separator production lines in the A1 factory in Shaoxing, Zhejiang, with a designed production capacity of 80 million square meters/year; the first phase of the under-construction A2 factory has 5 imported composite separator production lines, as well as supporting solid-state electrolyte and binder production workshops, which are expected to be put into use in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Media also disclosed that in May of this year, Lionteam New Energy reached a cooperation with Dongfeng Group on the research and development and production of key materials for solid-state batteries, solid-state electrolytes, and semi-solid composite separators. Dongfeng Group and its affiliated companies will supply lithium-ion battery separator products to Lionteam New Energy and purchase solid-state electrolyte materials and semi-solid electrolyte slurry formulations from Lionteam New Energy.
Currently, domestic semi-solid-state batteries have reached the mass production boundary of a 1% market penetration rate, and the development of all-solid-state batteries is also accelerating. Mainstream vehicle manufacturers, leading battery companies, material enterprises, and research institutions are all striving to explore the development of all-solid-state batteries. Lionteam New Energy Technology is expected to have a broad market prospect in solid-state electrolytes and semi-solid composite separators.
