Recently, CARGEN Advanced Carbon Materials announced the completion of its Pre-A round of financing. To date, CARGEN has completed a total financing of 100 million RMB.

Established at the end of 2022, CARGEN is committed to the innovative research and development of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and self-emulsifying polymer microspheres for lithium/-ion battery separator coating. It is one of the few new generation material innovation companies globally that have achieved the large-scale production of MOFs through a non-solvent method. The company has completed the layout of multiple intellectual property rights in core technology areas and has invested tens of millions in building a research and development platform. This round of financing will accelerate the industrial application of the company's metal-organic framework (MOF) series products and the construction of a thousand-ton production line.

Self-emulsifying polymer microspheres can form a good bond between the separator and the positive and negative electrode plates, making them the best alternative to the traditional coating material PVDF-HFP. Compared to PVDF-HFP, this product is fluorine-free, has low swelling, stronger adhesion, lower cost, and complies with the fluorine restriction regulations of the European Union and North America. The self-emulsifying polymer microsphere product has passed long-term verification by separator and battery manufacturers and has been mass-produced and installed in vehicles.

Self-Emulsifying Microsphere Powder

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a new class of porous materials with a large specific surface area, high porosity, uniform pore size, and adjustable pore size, which can achieve selective adsorption and separation of gases and small molecules. The company has developed more than 40 types of MOF products, which can be applied to carbon dioxide capture, dehumidification and drying, heat dissipation and cooling, gas separation, VOC adsorption, and lithium/-ion battery separator coating. In 2023, BASF took the lead in achieving global commercial production at the scale of hundreds of tons. As the first domestic company with the capability to produce MOFs at the scale of tens of tons, CARGEN has served many leading companies in various fields at home and abroad.

In the future, CARGEN will continue to leverage the technical advantages of its talent team to provide new material solutions that are performance excellent, cost controllable, and environmentally friendly, contributing its unique strength to global carbon neutrality.
