Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. held the "2024 Chery Global Innovation Conference" in Wuhu, Anhui, on October 18, showcasing Chery's innovative practices and achievements in the five major technological fields of Mars Architecture, Kunpeng Power, Lion.AI Cabin, ZDRIVE Intelligent Driving, and Galaxy Ecosystem, and released an upgraded version of the Kunpeng battery and a future-oriented advanced intelligent driving technology solution.
Advancement in Five Major Technological Fields
Based on the Yao Guang 2025 strategy, Chery has made comprehensive progress in the five major technological fields of Mars Architecture, Kunpeng Power, Lion.AI Cabin, ZDRIVE Intelligent Driving, and Galaxy Ecosystem, achieving more than 10 key technological breakthroughs such as Kunpeng battery, end-to-end large model, smart cabin large model, flying car, and gimbal intelligent chassis 2.0, building a globally cutting-edge high-quality technological value innovation chain.
Updated Kunpeng Power Battery Line
Chery Kunpeng Power has undergone a full-line upgrade, with the following highlights: for range-extended electric vehicles (REEVs),the two-wheel drive has a fuel consumption of as low as 5.2L per 100 kilometers and the four-wheel drive has a fuel consumption of as low as 5.9L per 100 kilometers, setting a new standard for REEV energy consumption. For the plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), it has an electric consumption of 9.9kwh per 100 kilometers and a fuel consumption of 2.98L per 100 kilometers when the battery is depleted, also creating a new record for hybrid energy consumption.
Kunpeng Power officially launched the Kunpeng battery brand, which covers three major battery categories: prismatic phosphate iron lithium series, prismatic nickel-manganese-cobalt series, and large-cylinder nickel-manganese-cobalt series," featured "fast charging, long range, long life, and high safety."
In terms of fast charging, it supports a maximum of 6C fast charging, allowing for an additional 400 kilometers of range after just 5 minutes of charging. In terms of range, hybrid and range-extended electric vehicles (PHEV/REEV) equipped with Kunpeng batteries have a maximum pure electric range of over 300 kilometers, and pure electric vehicles (BEV) have a maximum pure electric range of over 1200 kilometers. In terms of battery life, the cell cycle life exceeds 3000 cycles, leading the industry by 20% in ultra-long life, and is equipped with a global AI pre-warning system. In terms of safety, it features PPB process quality control, which means fault control at the rate of one in a billion. Even when the cell is deformed by 50%, it still does not smoke or catch fire and can still discharge normally.
In addition, Chery is also developing large-cylinder batteries and solid-state batteries, with the EV pure electric range of the solid-state battery expected to exceed 1500 kilometers. It is planned to be put into directional operation in 2026 and will be mass marketed in 2027.
Release of Future-Oriented Advanced Intelligent Driving Technology Solution
Chery also released a future-oriented advanced intelligent driving technology solution at the conference, upgrading the ZDRIVE Intelligent Driving C-Pilot 4.0 to C-Pilot 5.0, marking the full entry of Chery's smart cars into the era of advanced intelligent driving NOA.
By 2025, Chery will have a dozen models equipped with advanced intelligent driving mass-produced and on the market, from urban NOA without maps to autonomous flagship high-speed NOA, relying on end-to-end technology to quickly achieve mass production of NOA. The Chery Intelligent Driving Large Model released by Chery generates rich scenarios through a cloud-based world model, forming a perception large model plus a planning large model that simulates human brain behavior and decision-making. By 2025, it will achieve one-stop end-to-end, and by 2027, it will form a VLA large model, allowing cars to truly enter the era of intelligent driving.
Chery has so far produced a total of 15 million vehicles worldwide. From January to September of this year, Chery's cumulative sales reached 1,752,793 units, with a year-on-year growth rate of 39.9%. Among them, the retail sales of new energy passenger vehicles reached 232,100 units, with a year-on-year increase of 217.9%. Chery has achieved record-breaking sales growth in both electric and internal-combustion engine vehicles, as well as domestic and overseas markets.
In addition, Chery also showcased its latest developed three-in-one compound wing flying car, which not only has unmanned driving capabilities but also supports both land and air driving modes. Chery established the Kaiyang Laboratory at the conference site. With the creation of a full ecological chain and full industrial chain R&D laboratory system, it will further promote scientific and technological innovation and accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, injecting new vitality into the global automotive industry.
