Stellantis N.V., the France-Italy joint venture automaker, and the U.S. solid-state battery company Factorial Inc. recently announced that they will equip the all-new Dodge Charger Daytona electric vehicle models, based on Stellantis' STLA Large platform, with Factorial's FEST® (Factorial Electrolyte System Technology) solid-state batteries by 2026.

Stellantis had previously made a $75 million investment in Factorial in 2021. As the next step in the commercialization of solid-state batteries for both parties, Stellantis will launch a demonstration fleet of the all-new Dodge Charger Daytona equipped with Factorial solid-state batteries before 2026 to validate Factorial's solid-state battery technology and assess its battery performance under real-world driving conditions.
Factorial will supply Stellantis with cells based on its patented FEST® solid-state battery, capable of achieving an energy density of over 390 Wh/kg. This battery offers higher energy density, lighter weight, and superior performance compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries, with the potential to further reduce costs in the future.

The STLA Large platform is the cornerstone of Stellantis' strategy ‘Dare Forward 2030’, which will enable the electrification of its brands, including Jeep®, Dodge, Chrysler, Alfa Romeo, and Maserati, providing up to two million electric vehicles globally.

"This demonstration fleet is an important milestone in our partnership with Factorial," said Ned Curic, Stellantis' Chief Engineering and Technology Officer. "By integrating Factorial’s innovative battery solution into the STLA Large platform, we are validating its potential to enhance our electric vehicle lineup, ensuring customers benefit from improved performance, longer driving ranges and faster charging times in the coming years."

Last month, Factorial launched the Solstice™ solid-state battery with Mercedes-Benz as a key customer and development partner, utilizing a new dry electrode process.
